Privacy Policy

This page describes how and when SFEOL collects and uses personally identifiable information of the users of its services. This Notice covers both general Visitors who simply browse the SFEOL website, and Guest Authors who write content for us. SFEOL uses third-party services such as WordPress.com (and Gravatar.com for Guest Authors) to store this data. SFEOL is not responsible for the security or privacy of any information collected by those websites or other services. This Privacy Policy does not govern those third-party services, and we encourage you to review the privacy statements applicable to the third-party services you use.

Website Visitors

As with most websites, when you are browsing the SFEOL.org website we use IP traffic logs and cookies to understand how visitors use our site and improve website performance. SFEOL does not collect or store personal information using cookies. Website traffic logs store information about the IP address you use, and the content you view. For logged-in users, a Session cookie is set simply to identify them as an authorized, logged-in user. Without this cookie, SFEOL Guest Authors would not be able to log into the authoring functions.

SFEOL may use WordPress.com and Google Analytics to understand in the aggregate how its website is being used in order to understand its visitors and improve its services. Any cookie named “_ga” or “_gid” is a Google Analytics cookie. For more information on how Google Analytics uses the information it collects, visit: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/7318509?hl=en&ref_topic=1008008

You may be able to restrict, block, or remove cookies through your web browser settings. However, the functionality of the website may be affected. The Help menu on the menu bar of most browsers also tells you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to delete old cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, and how to disable cookies altogether. You can also visit https://aboutcookies.org for more information on how to manage and remove cookies across a number of different internet browsers.

SFEOL Guest Authors

SFEOL Guest Authors prepare content for our site by using their own personal WordPress.com and Gravatar.com accounts. During the online registration process, WordPress.com and Gravatar.com collect certain personally identifiable information about each user. This personally identifiable information is input by the user directly (such as name, contact information, title, photo, etc.) SFEOL does not share this information with any third-parties, except in certain circumstances, such as required compliance with legal authorities.

In addition to the information filled in during the registration process, SFEOL also uses a WordPress.com session cookie to allow users who log in with their own WordPress.com accounts to be identified as a logged-in SFEOL authorized user. Without this cookie, no one would be able to access SFEOL Guest Author services.
